Conductor

CONDUCTOR Ruben de Grauw (1980) is the conductor of the choir. He started singing at the Sacrament Choir Breda at the age of seven. Later he sang at the Chorale of the Church of Our Lady in Breda as well. After his voice had modulated, he became a tenor at: Cappelle Breda conducted by Daan Manneke, the Laurens Bach Collegium conducted by Barend Schuurman and Wiecher Mandemaker. He also sang with vocal ensemble ‘Klinkklaar’ and as a soloist. Ruben has studied the piano since 1993. In 2001 he graduated for his grade D certificate.  

In 1997 he began conducting Plurale Tantum. He also conducted the mixed choir Euterpe in Rijen (near Breda) from 2001 till 2006 and he has conducted the girls’ choir ‘Puellae Cantante’ (Breda) from 2002 to 2009. Paui van Gulick was his conducting teacher from 1998 to 2003. In 2004 Ruben started studying for conductor at the Rotterdam Conservatory. At the moment he is taught choral conducting by Paul van Gulick and Wiecher Mandemaker. In June 2008 he will graduate with a special concert.
